In early 1992, Fred Forsley and Alan Pugsley, Master Brewer, established the Kennebunkport Brewing Company and Federal Jack's Restaurant & Brewpub. From the beginning our goal has been to produce World Class Ales in this truly unique and special location. Word of our fine ales spread quickly throughout Maine causing demand to increase rapidly. Demand quickly outpaced our size and the idea arose to create The Shipyard Brewing Company in Portland, Maine. Upon completion of the Shipyard Brewery, the Shipyard ales quickly became the state's premier craft beer.
